Tailoring

I am really excited to be doing tailoring since it is a new challenging technique which includes an attention to detail. We will be learning the fusible method which is the method mostly used when a quick construction is needed. This method includes using interfacing and more elements are machine sewn. Machine tailoring is another method used, this is a longer method. Canvas is used instead of interfacing and stitches are seen on the canvas, done on the machine. The final method is bespoke. This takes the longest time with pad stitches being hand stitched along with other elements.

I have decided to reproduce a jacket sold by Great Scot called The Lady Mary. This resembles a Victorian riding jacket.

Here some images of the single and double welt pockets that I have been working on as samples.
